Since 2014, the AIAS-COFUND fellowship programmes have been available for the most talented researchers from around the world and within all research disciplines and topics.
The first AIAS-COFUND Fellowship scheme (2014 - 2021) was funded with a grant of DKK 46 million by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions grant agreement no 609033.
The second AIAS-COFUND II Fellowship scheme was supported with a grant of DKK 36 million from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions grant agreement no 754513.
Both fellowship programmes were co-funded by Aarhus University Research Foundation (AUFF).
The efforts of the fellows have resulted in numerous scientific publications and a lasting academic and societal impact with research topics addressing global challenges. Moreover, new research questions have been generated, leading to novel ideas and research projects, many of which have been funded with prestigious career grants from e.g. the ERC (see more about these projects here: https://aias.au.dk/research/impact/from-researcher-to-group-leader).
Evaluations also show that AIAS fellows form new and lasting collaborations and network, in Denmark and internationally, and that these collaborations continue post-fellowship. 30% of the fellows have been recruited to Aarhus University or other research institutions in Denmark.
