Interdisciplinary research collaboration and innovative ideas are prerequisite for tackling joint societal challenges. To address this need, AIAS hosts groups of theme-based fellows within the research themes of:
The theme-based fellows work on an individual research project, and together with a group of fellows, they address and explore their joint theme from interdisciplinary and collaborative perspectives.

My AIAS project has been a stepping-stone for setting up new fruitful collaborations with researchers outside the natural sciences, including researchers in biomedicine, clinical medicine, and pathology, which has provided me with new tools and approaches to addressing my scientific questions.
