Three AIAS visiting fellows

On 1 March 2023, AIAS welcomes the first of three Visiting fellows who will stay at AIAS during the spring of 2023.

AIAS offers a number of Visiting Fellowships to outstanding researchers from abroad on sabbaticals who are looking for an opportunity to engage in the international and interdisciplinary research community of AIAS and to collaborate with the research environments at Aarhus University.

This spring AIAS welcomes three visiting fellows:

Commencing on 1 March 2023:

  • André Costopoulos, Vice-Provost and Dean of Students & Professor, Anthropology Department, University of Alberta, Canada
    Aarhus University/ AIAS collaborators:
    Felix Riede, Department of Anthropology and Heritage Studies, and Iza Romanowska, AIAS and UrbNet.

Commencing on 1 April 2023:

  • Anna Collar, Lecturer, Department of Archaeology, University of Southampton, UK
    Aarhus University/ AIAS collaborators:
    Troels Myrup Kristensen and Tom Brughmans, Classical Archeology
  • Eleonora Redaelli, Associate Professor, School of Planning, Public Policy and Management, University of Oregon, US
    Aarhus University collaborator:
    Louise Ejgod Hansen, Center for Cultural Evaluation, School of Communication and Culture

The new visiting fellows will have their daily office space at AIAS, and participate in the activities at AIAS and at the relevant research environments at Aarhus University.

Dual talk on 6 March with first visiting fellow

On 6 March at 13:15-14:15, the first visiting fellow to arrive, Professor André Costopoulos will give a joint talk with Iza Romanowska at AIAS on the topic of  “Complexity Science and Self-organised Criticality.The talk is open to all.

How to apply for a Visiting Fellowship

The AIAS Visiting Fellowships are offered to researchers from abroad on sabbaticals who wish to be a part of an international and interdisciplinary research community of AIAS and to collaborate with the research environments at Aarhus University for short-term stays.

Application deadlines

  • May 1, 2023: for visiting fellowships starting in the fall 2023.
  • November 1, 2023: for visiting fellowships starting in the spring 2024.
  • May 1, 2024: for visiting fellowships starting in the fall 2024.
