Abstract: A Philosophical Nap
What if, instead of obeying the insomniac injunction of our screens, we stopped for a moment to slumber? When extractivism relies on your permanent wakefulness, it can be useful to mobilize the forces of sleep and drowsiness, to practice napping as a form of micropolitical resistance. An examination of the insurrectional potential contained in the gesture of abandoning oneself to gravity.
Approximately forty-five minutes for practicing philosophy-while-lying-down, reflecting on sleep while dozing off. This takes place outside on or under tables, in armchairs or in the aisles, and you are invited to bring comfort accessories if you wish (duvets, pillows, cushions, floor mats, blankets...).

Emma Bigé studies, writes and translates between the fields of dance, queer studies and environmental inhumanities. An assistant professor in philosophy at the Limoges School for the Arts, a dancer and a curator, she is notably the author of Mouvementements. She lives at the edge of a forest and, whenever she can, she rolls on the ground.

The Landing Zones project, funded by Creative Europe for 2025-2026, promotes spaces at the intersection of neurodiversity activism and ecology. Building on decades of neurodiversity theory that recognizes multiple ways of perceiving and being in the world, the project creates temporary landing zones (TLZs): architectural insertions in schools, galleries, and urban spaces designed for rest, napping, and slowing down. Activities consist of week-long workshop series at partner sites, culminating in TLZ installations and an online library of zines in neurodiversity activism and studies. Temporary Landing Zone #1 will be held at Aarhus University 16-20 June.
