Intraoral scanning (IOS) is a portable, radiation-free imaging modality used to digitise dental arches, producing high-resolution coloured 3D models. While IOS holds great potential in diagnosis and treatment planning of various dental conditions, its application is hampered by (1) image quality and performance influenced by multiple factors; (2) limited evidence for diagnostic tasks; and (3) user-dependent analysis. This project tackles these issues, aiming to optimize and expand the use of IOS in dental practice.
With a background in dentistry and a PhD degree in Oral Rehabilitation from University of São Paulo, my focus is on exploring digital tools in Dentistry, with interdisciplinarity as a fundamental aspect. My career spans non-academic and academic roles, through management in a dental imaging company and teaching at the aforementioned university. These experiences have enriched my ability to bridge theory and practice in research and education.
