During her AIAS-AUFF fellowship, Bruna Neves de Freitas will be working on the project 'Augmenting and Expanding the use of Intraoral Scanning in Dentistry'
Intraoral scanning (IOS) is a portable, radiation-free imaging modality used to digitise dental arches, producing high-resolution coloured 3D models. While IOS holds great potential in diagnosis and treatment planning of various dental conditions, its application is hampered by (1) image quality and performance influenced by multiple factors; (2) limited evidence for diagnostic tasks; and (3) user-dependent analysis. This project tackles these issues, aiming to optimize and expand the use of IOS in dental practice.
