Year 2 and Counting: The Impact of Generative AI on Text

Join us for an afternoon of discussions and networking.

Date: 24 April 2024
Venue: Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies
Registration deadline: 17 April 2024

As we navigate through the second year of publicly available AI technologies, the momentum within the field continues to build. Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude are providing practitioners with valuable insights and experiences, and everyone has to navigate a landscape where AI as a toy or AI as a tool can be hard to distinguish.

The Center for Language Generation and AI (CLAI) invites you to an afternoon at the Aarhus Institute for Advanced Studies (AIAS), featuring a series of workshops, a poster session, and a reception. This event is designed to foster discussions and networking opportunities among attendees.

We look forward to your participation in another engaging afternoon.

Key issues will be academic integrity, the potential for AI to enhance learning, and the practical uses that have proven effective.
  • Cultural Transfer: Examine the inherent biases of large language models and their interfaces, analyzing the potential cultural impacts. This session aims to uncover how these technologies might influence writing styles, propagate certain values, and affect creativity, potentially leading to a homogenization of cultural expressions.
  • Personalizing Large Language Models: With ChatGPT often serving as an introductory platform for many, this workshop will explore the broader ecosystem of LLMs offered by various companies. The discussion will cover the current state of model customization, including running smaller models, fine-tuning practices, and the development of new models to cater to specific needs and preferences.
