The first call for AIAS-COFUND II fellowships is now closed

With a successful number of 232 applications from researchers from all over the world, the first call of AIAS-COFUND Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowships under EU’s Horizon 2020 has closed this week. Now an extensive triple peer-review and selection process will follow.

The first call for fellowships in the new AIAS fellowship scheme entitled ‘AIAS-COFUND II Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowships’ has closed successfully. Not only has the number of applications increased extensively, but also in terms of global reach as 58 different nationalities are represented in the total of 232 applications. The cohort has a constellation of 63 senior researchers and 169 junior researchers, and contains applicants from all main faculties.

The final composition of the selected cohort of up to 15 future AIAS Fellows will be decided in a long, external triple and international peer-review process with excellence as the main criterion for selection. This comprehensive process will last until June, when the applicants will receive answers. The fellows selected will commence at AIAS in two groups; either on 1 October 2018 or 1 February 2019.

38 fellows at one time

From 1 February this year, AIAS is able to host 38 fellows at one time; currently 34 fellows are hosted at the Institute. Fellows at AIAS come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and are offered unique research conditions for a period from one up to three years, free from other obligations than exactly their core activity: research. Many new fellows have already established research collaborations with departments at Aarhus University prior to their arrival at AIAS, and besides this collaboration, fellows will be situated in a thriving, multidisciplinary and international environment at AIAS.
