From the 1 April 2023, the AIAS Board of Directors welcomes a new member, Professor Jens-Christian Svenning. As a leading biologist in his field, director of the Centre of Excellence Center for Ecological Dynamics in a Novel Biosphere (ECONOVO) and founder of the research center BIOCHANGE, a Center for Biodiversity Dynamics in a Changing World, Jens-Christian Svenning has a long experience as both a researcher and a research leader that will be valuable in his work on the AIAS Board of Directors.

Interdisciplinary experience

The centre that Jens-Christian Svenning is heading is an interdisciplinary centre and has as its mission to develop novel interdisciplinary approaches to understand how biodiversity and society interact and promote biodiversity in a changing, densely populated world. Jens-Christian Svenning’s interdisciplinary experience from BIOCHANGE goes well in hand with AIAS’s mission as a platform for interdisciplinary research exchanges and collaboration by bringing scholars together across disciplines, methods, seniority and countries to break novel ground for the benefit of humankind, through either an individual research project and through theme-based group fellowships.
