New book and panel discussion on Hannah Arendt and Isaiah Berlin: Freedom, Politics and Humanity (Princeton UP, 2021) by Kei Hiruta

In his new book, AIAS fellow Kei Hiruta tells the story of the conflict between Hannah Arendt and Isaiah Berlin and considers how their profound disagreement over central issues in politics, history and philosophy continues to offer important lessons for political thought broadly construed today. Join the panel discussion on 4 November to know more about Hiruta’s work.

The new book entitled Hannah Arendt and Isaiah Berlin: Freedom, Politics and Humanity, by AIAS fellow Kei Hiruta, will be published by Princeton University Press on 23 November 2021. In celebration of this new publication, the Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas at Aarhus University will host a book panel with the author Kei Hiruta and panellists Anders Berg-Sørensen (University of Copenhagen) and Zoltán Gábor Szűcs (Center for Social Sciences, Budapest). All are welcome to join.

AIAS Fellow Kei Hiruta will give a brief overview of his new book Hannah Arendt and Isaiah Berlin. This will be followed by comments by panellists Anders Berg-Sørensen (University of Copenhagen) and Zoltán Gábor Szűcs (Center for Social Sciences, Budapest), Hiruta’s reply to the panellists, and Q&As with the audience. The event is open to the public. No registration is required.
