Doug Speed is a mathematician specializing in statistical genetics, and during his three-year AIAS fellowship from 2017-2020, he has worked on developing statistical software for analysing large genetic datasets and better understanding human diseases.

Now Doug has been appointed a full Professor of Genetics at the Centre for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG), part of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University. The QGG has a long history developing tools to improve the efficiency of animal and plant breeding. However, they now wish to focus more on human problems, leading them to recruit Doug.

“I am very pleased to be joining QGG. They have strong ambitions to become a leading force within human genetics, and I am excited about helping them achieve this aim. In particular, I look forward to utilizing the methods I developed and connections I made during my AIAS fellowship,” Doug Speed says about his appointment.
