Art on the Brain: DANDRITE Science Exhibition at AIAS
This exhibition presents works of art created by researchers inspired by the brain's hidden universe. The works are visual interpretations of the brain's structures and functions – observations made through microscopes, 3D visualizations, dissections, behavioral studies and paintings.

In Brain Awareness Week, in collaboration with the Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience (DANDRITE), AIAS is hosting an Art & Neuroscience exhibition 'Art on the Brain' displaying DANDRITE neuroscientists' own images of the brain's universe.
In three short talks, three DANDRITE researchers will present their image and research, introduced by three AIAS fellows:
- Silke Blair Chalmer, DANDRITE & Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University
Introduced by: Catherine Williams, AIAS Associate & Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University - Mette Richner, DANDRITE & Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University
Introduced by: Pierre du Plessis, AIAS-AUFF Fellow - Meet Sanjaykumar Jariwala, Guest Researcher, Khodosevich Group, University of Copenhagen & former Phd Student at DANDRITE
Introduced by: Elisabetta Ferrari, AIAS-AUFF Fellow
Join this Friday afternoon event to explore the captivating images as inspiration to communicate your own science visually and form new research networks and relations across diciplines and faculties.
Participation
The photo exhibition is open to all and participation is free of charge. A refreshment will be served so please sign up by Thursday 13 March 2025, at 12:00 to attend.
More about the exhibition: Art on the Brain
This exhibition presents unique works created by researchers who have been inspired by the brain's hidden universe. The works are visual interpretations of the brain's structures and functions – observations made through microscopes, 3D visualizations, dissections and behavioral studies.
Each image tells its own unique story and opens a window to the enigmatic and complex universe in our brains – a universe we as humans rarely get to experience. The researchers have transformed neurons, synapses and the brain's smallest building blocks into works of art that create a deeper understanding of both the brain and the science that explores it.
The exhibition invites us to see the brain in a new way – as a source of both knowledge and aesthetics, where science and art meet and merge. Through this unique fusion, we get the opportunity to see the brain in a new light and appreciate the beauty and complexity that lies in its inner landscapes
