About the event
In recent years, the discussion around gender and participation in sport has gained pace due to the increasing number of transgender athletes participating in the women’s category. Opinions on the inclusion of transgender athletes vary significantly.
Verner Møller in his upcoming book Competition, fairness, and equality in Sport and society takes on many of the controversies surrounding gender and equality in sport and provokes readers to consider difficult questions.
A panel composed of international scholars Associate Professor Lindsay Parks Pieper (Lynchburg University, US), Professor Jesper Andreasson (Linneaus University, Sweden), Associate Professor Ask Vest Christiansen (Aarhus University), and Professor Verner Møller (Aarhus University) will discuss the complexities of gender and sport.
The panel discussion with the title Whose Sport Is It? A Debate on Gender, Equality, and Fairness in Sport and Society marks the opening of the 2022 Sport & Society Conference and is held in the Auditorium of the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) from 17:00 to 20:00 on June 29, 2022.
