Christopher Ries introduces the remarkable concretions recovered from HMS St. George, where biological, chemical, and archaeological processes have fused cultural objects into solid masses since 1811. His talk explores how natural forces and conservators together shape the stories that can be uncovered from these formations. The presentation will be followed by a discussion on narratives, human and non-human actors, material transformations—and whatever else may arise—in the history of science and in cultural history museums.
