Abstract
A molecule is chiral if it and its mirror image are not superimposable. These pairs are called enantiomers and have an interesting property. They interact differently with biological macromolecules, the cells or the proteins in our body. In this presentation I will talk about the concepts of molecular chirality, its importance in everyday life and present my own research endeavors in this fascinating area.
Short bio
Sebastijan Ričko is an AIAS-COFUND Fellow at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University. His research is focused on developing new ways of making chiral organic molecules from simple substrates using small organic molecules as chiral catalysts.

What is an AIAS Seminar?
The AIAS Seminar is a session of seminars held by the AIAS fellow or by other speakers proposed by the fellows. In each seminar, one fellow will present and discuss his/her current research and research project, closing off with a question and discussion session.
All seminars are held in English.
