Up to 10 fellowships are available for curiosity-driven, talented researchers from all over the world and within all research disciplines.

The AIAS-AUFF Fellowships are open to both junior and senior researchers, with a duration of 23 months for junior fellowships and 11 months for senior fellowships, starting on 1 September 2025.

As a fellow you will benefit from the international and multidisciplinary environment at AIAS that brings researchers together across disciplines, academic seniority and borders in a thriving and creative house.

You are offered the time and space to immerse yourself in your research project, and at the same time also be inspired and interrupted intellectually by the conversations and exchanges with the other fellows that will give you fresh and different insights, methods and perspectives on your own research, thinking and practice.

Fellows are expected to take actively part in seminars, cross-disciplinary conversations and other collaborative activities that contribute to upholding the inspiring and challenging community of scholars at AIAS.

A fellowship includes

  • A salary based on seniority (employment conditions and wages are regulated through the Danish collective union agreements)
  • Travel costs to Aarhus
  • Relocation assistance

Fellows will have office space at AIAS and can participate in the academic training activities, conferences and workshops at AIAS and at Aarhus University. They will also be affiliated with the relevant research environments at Aarhus University.

Who can apply for an AIAS-AUFF Fellowship?

Researchers from any academic discipline can apply with a novel and explorative research project. As the fellowships aim at enhancing internationalization and interdisciplinary networks at Aarhus University, a mobility demand applies. This means that researchers are eligible for application if they have not resided in Denmark in more than 12 months within the last two years prior to the application deadline.

Moreover, applicants most hold a PhD degree and a minimum of two years of experience at the time of application.

  • Juniors with 2-10 years of experience after completion of the PhD can apply for a 23 months fellowship
  • Seniors with 10+ years of experience after the completions of the PhD can apply for a 11 months fellowship.

Commencement date of the fellowships: 1 September 2025
