AIAS welcomes 12 new international researchers

On 1 October 2015 five of the twelve new fellows will join the international and scientifically diverse community of AIAS – reaching a total number of 34 AIAS fellows from all over the world.

The second cohort consists of 12 AIAS-COFUND Marie Curie fellows who have each been selected after undergoing a triple external peer-review to ensure an open and fair selection process. They are distributed between six females, six males and of 10 different nationalities – 5 will commence on 1 October 2015, the rest will follow on 1 February 2016. Scientifically, the new fellows cover a wide spectrum of fields - from research into breast cancer, through aquatic ecosystems to politics in times of fiscal crisis, hereby they will contribute to the multiplicity of scientific disciplines present at AIAS.

Freedom - and engagement

While the 12 new fellows gain freedom and independence at AIAS to immerse themselves into their research project for a period of time, the majority of these and the current fellows are already connected to a research community at Aarhus University. This engagement between AIAS fellows and AU faculty members have resulted in joint research projects and publications, but also often in international workshops, symposia and conferences held at AIAS – events that are always open to researchers from AU and abroad. At the 9-10 Fellows’ Seminars held each semester, fellows present their research projects, and as these seminars are open to the public, participants can contribute to and benefit from the high-level and multidisciplinary discussions that take place during the Fellows’ Seminars. See the Autumn 2015 programme at: http://aias.au.dk/aias-fellows-seminar/.
