Anja Kamp has joined the two Departments at Aarhus University as an Assistant Professor from 1 April 2018. She will be working on microbial nitrogen removal processes in wastewater treatment plants with a main focus on anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) in the main and side stream of the Marselisborg wastewater treatment plant in Aarhus. Anammox bacteria convert fixed N-compounds (i.e. ammonium and nitrite) to nitrogen gas, which in turn is released to the atmosphere without any negative effect.
