Abstract

Animation is the best way to visualize processes inside cells. Thanks to heavy investments made by and for the entertainment industry, we have a new set of powerful tools available to integrate visualization environments combining multiple sources and platforms. In this talk, Rikke Schmidt Kjærgaard will discuss hybrid methods linking artistic software with scientific data and methods.

Short CV

Rikke Schmidt Kjærgaard is a Jens Christian Skou Junior Fellow at AIAS. She received her PhD in science communication in 2008 from Aarhus University and has held postdoctoral fellowships at the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit at Cambridge University and at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, USA. She became field editor of Visual Studies Dissertation Reviews at Stanford University in 2011. In 2012, she was elected Junior Fellow of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.

What is a Fellows' Seminar?

The AIAS Fellows' Seminar is a session of seminars held by the AIAS fellows or by other speakers proposed by the fellows. In each seminar, one fellow will present and discuss his/her current research and research project, closing off with a question and discussion session.
