Abstract

Liberal politics is based on promissory agendas of a better world displaced onto a continually differed future. At the same time, planetary obliteration and climate change discourses predict an already known and inevitable outcome. In both cases, future is proclaimed as determinate and therefore it is annulled. As an alternative, I propose a politics that would no longer be a future-oriented promise, but a present-oriented action embracing unpredictable events and generating “new beginnings.” This seminar aims at demonstrating the political and aesthetic relevance of this concept.
