AIAS Fellow Dorothee Birke interviewed on the Nobel Prize in Literature 2017

Birke gives her bid and research knowledge on this year’s recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature 2017 Kazuo Ishiguro to Swiss national radio SRF ‘Kultur’ today.

Yesterday on 5 October, Kazuo Ishiguro was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2017. This morning, 6 October, AIAS Fellow, Associate Professor in English literature Dorothee Birke gave a 10-minute long interview to the Swiss national radio SRF for their ‘Kultur’ (Culture) programme.

In the interview, Birke gives her bid both as a researcher and as a reader on the reasons for awarding the prize to exactly Kazuo Ishiguro. Birke wrote her PhD about representations of memory and identity in contemporary British novels, using Kazuo Ishiguro as a main case of study, and has published several articles on his authorship.
